Notes

Inspired by the thought of an old faded denim jacket. And the fringe association blog post where Karen discussed a monochromatic jacket.

I realize this is tooting my own horn here, but the pooling, on the back in the Smitten section especially. So.Very.Pleased. I’m NEVER a fan of pooling but this, this looks like faded crease marked on a jacket. The fact that it is symmetrical pleases me and is what saved it too.

DONE! I’m ridiculously pleased. It’s all that I thought. Just the right size and surprisingly light weight. I added short rows to the back, a few extra to the neck, and length to the sleeves. It came out just like I pictured it.

2/18 photos are unblocked, poor night time lighting. Better ones to come in the morning.

I’ll also get final measurements and yardage tomorrow.

01-23-2016

Day one; section one.

Bottom 2/3 are scholar 2.0 smitten, top 1/3 traveler Aran in transatlantic.

Measures 12.5 wide by 20” tall. (Bit small by my math)

01-24-2016

Day 2; section 2. Welts. First one is primo fingering blue bayou held doubled. Second section is blue bayou with a one hit wonder on single. Third is the OWH held doubled. Used a slightly smaller needle to pick up all the purl bumps at once. It added 1 1/2 inches to the width

01-24-2016

Day 2; section 3.

Stripes of strut your stuff and forward in flats on feet held doubled. Measures 4 1/4 x ~10.5. “

01-24-2016

Day 2; section 8. Skipped ahead since I think I want either left coast or grumpy old sailor for the other welts. And i knew I wanted to use my OHW on Oxford doubled for this section. It added 2 1/2 inches of width. On hold for yarn for the other welts unless I decide to work the left front. But probably still need to wait for those other two colours.

01-25-2016

Day three section 4; welts Aramis on primo sport held doubled. One hit wonder Oxford double. Cozy room with a view.

01-27-2016

Day four; section 5. Right back. Blue bayou held doubled and lake placid on single doubled. Plus one wee little stripe of mighty madrona (I think. I’ll have to go check) because it looked like the perfect Levi red.

01-27-2016

Day four, section 6. OHW. Oxford held double. Matches the other side.

From the underarm welt to the other underarm welt measures just under 30”

01-28-2016

Day five, 1st part section 7. Stripes of smitten on scholar with OHW on single doubled.

01-28-2016

Day 5; section 7 cont. GOS snug fingering doubled and Aramis sport doubled.

01-28-2016

Day 5; section 7. Dove cote oxford 2.0 doubled and the with an added strand of kidsilk haze (first non plucky yarn) then dropped a strand of the ox to make the kidsilk stand out more.

01-30-2016

Day 6; section 7:

Traveler Aran transatlantic with primo sport left coast doubled. Ending with two rows lake placid on single doubled.

01-30-2016

Measurement from end of the last welt to the end of the front 24”

01-30-2016

Day 6; section 9. Smitten striped with Aramis doubled.

01-30-2016

Day 6; section 9.

Transatlantic
OHW single
Forward in flats
Blue bayou
Room with a view
Dove Côte
Lake placid
Smitten
OHW single
Flying atlas
Left coast
Aramis
Grumpy
Transatlantic

01-30-2016

Day 6; section 10 and 12. Made both at once since they will be the same. Snug fingering grumpy old sailor held with the kidsilk. One strand of each.

02-01-2016

Day 7; section 11

Flying atlas in sweater.

02-07-2016

Day 8, section 13. Flying atlas sweater

02-07-2016

Day 8; section 14. Underarms OHW Oxford held doubled. Didn’t finish the sleeves because I might want them longer.

Day 8; section 15. Picked up 250 stitches with traveler Aran, transatlantic Thinking about adding some short rows to curve the bottom hem.

02-09-2016

Day 9 and 10; section 15. Border one. Transatlantic in traveler Aran. Used the rest of my first skein and a fair bit of skein #2. Did some short rows to drop the back hem. So there’s 11 garter ridges in the front and 15 in the back.

02-10-2016

Day 11; section 16. Border 2 (the collar). Cozy room with a view. Took considerably less than I anticipated. All that remains is the I cord bind off and to make a decision on whether I want to lengthen the sleeves. I certainly have enough yarn left.

I’ll weight my leftovers one day when I get a breather.

02-17-2016

Days 12, 13, and 14; i-cord bind off. OHW single held doubled and snug fingering GOS held doubled. it took forever because I had to twist the yarn every row. Looks great though!

Day 14, rest of sleeves -decided to add a little bit of length and did one sleeve with Left coast PS held doubled and then 3 garter ridges of dove cote ox 2.0 held doubled.

02-18-2016

Day 15; second sleeve is Aramis primo sport held doubled and the dove cite ox 2.0 held doubled again. I just need to weave in the final ends from the sleeves and it’s done!!
