Love this cardi and couldn’t wait to start it. I’ve never done an I-cord edge as I go before, so cool, everything is finished, no attatching a band after. I’ve not seen a pattern written this way before it looked daunting, but it’s really great it makes it easy to make adjustments as you go. I just read through before I started knitting and circled everything that applied to the size I needed.
Really mad at myself, I had this finished and sewn today only to find the arms are so small. I’ve unpicked and will try again at a later date. When I retry I will knit the sleeves in the round not flat as the pattern suggests that way I can find out quickly how the fit will be.
Started the sleeves again today 29/10/15, working so much better in the round I’ve been able to try it on as I go. Lesson learnt I presumed because the main measurements were fine that the size would fit me all over, but my arms are bigger and I hadn’t taken that in to account. I had originally increased to 59 stitches but there was no give along the seam, after unpicking I kept the 59 stitches but knit in the round it had much more stretch and seemed to be a good fit. I knit to 12 cm then started decreases every 12 rows to 45 stitches. The arm measured 43 cm’s, at that point I started the cuff knitting 16 rows in rib then binding off. I had bought an extra ball of yarn as I wanted the body and sleeves longer I used about 50 yards of the final ball. The pattern really allows you to custom knit for your shape. Love it can’t wait to wear it!
Really pleased with the yarn it’s quite firm holds its shape so far.
