Notes

Mods: knit on US11 for a looser fabric, fewer stitches cast on for a narrower scarf, more rows knit before keyhole; narrower keyhole.

01/13/10 - Got several inches knit last night--almost all the way to switching out colors, but ended up frogging it when I tried it on Jeffrey. It was just too wide to be comfortable for him, and the fabric was just too firm. So I’ve gone all the way up to a US11 to get the feel I like. I also cast on fewer stitches than the pattern called for, because I wanted it even narrower than the pattern called for (Jeffrey didn’t it like it that wide). I also knit a few extra rows before starting the keyhole and made it a little more narrow for a snugger fit.

01/14/09 - It’s 2:25 am, but Jeffrey’s “lizard scarf” is bound off and the ends weaved in. All that’s left is to pick out the buttons with him for the eyes! This was a very quick and easy knit; I basically did it in a day’s worth of knitting.

(Later) - As soon as Jeffrey saw his scarf, he announced it needed red eyes. So, we pulled out my button jar and went through to find all the red buttons. I’d originally planned to have large white buttons with smaller red ones on top, but Jeffrey found the big red buttons--and it was love at first sight. So much love, in fact, that his scarf had to have three eyes, not just two. I suggested small black buttons for pupils, and he picked those out; I decided on the placement…and the scarf of many names has transformed from a lizard to a monster!
