This project is a variation of the written pattern. The pattern was not written small enough, so I adjusted the instructions for a smaller mitten.

12/20 - First mitten complete! My modifications seem to have worked. I cast on 20 sts and knit the entire mitten on size US9 needles…because I started knitting without checking the pattern and forgot I was supposed to size the needle down on the cuff. But that actually works well for a child that small, because the wrist tends to be chunkier. The first fits, so time to cast on for the second, since we’re already where it’s cold!

12/29 - And the second is finished…too late to wear at my parents’ house. But that’s okay--there was no snow, and even if there had been, poor Lexie had a cold and wouldn’t have been out in it for very long anyway! I’m bummed that there wasn’t a chance to use them, but maybe they’ll still fit next winter!
