5/21/10 - Feeling the need for a quick knit. I have this yarn that didn’t work for another pattern, but it should make a nice warm baby jacket. Need to leave off the hood, because sis-in-law doesn’t like them.

5/23/10 - The first yarn I picked, the 3IG Riddermark Merino, just wasn’t working for this. It was knitting up too stiff, and was still over gauge. So I’m going to switch to the 3IG Galenas Chunky, which should work beautifully.

6/5/10 - After several interruptions, I’ve got the body of the sweater and one sleeve knit. Looking at it, the proportions look totally off…but I’m guessing that’s got more to do with me not having seen a baby in a while and forgetting how out of proportion they are! At least, that’s what I’m hoping. Should have gone up a needle size on the sleeve; despite the fact that my purl stitch is looser than my knit stitch (and therefore garter in the round should be looser than garter knit flat), the sleeve fabric is a lot tighter than the body fabric.

6/6/10 - Knitting complete! Didn’t take long once I got restarted. I need to find buttons for it, then I’m done.

6/17/10 - Found the buttons pretty quickly, but it took me longer than it should to get them sewn on; I’d gotten the coordinating hat knit first. But it’s done and it’s adorable!
