This is a Cro-knit hat. I wanted a slouchy hat that stayed on my head, was snug on my ears but loose and Lacey on my hair (curly hair holds heat). I knit the band with size 13 circular needles in a 2x2 rib with 4 rows of Japanese short rows, so the band is wider on my forehead and narrower in the back. I bound off and then began with crochet, working the first two rows in the back loop to give that banded effect. The rest was simply (hdc, ch1) to create the mesh. After 3 rows of mesh using smaller hook, I changed to a larger hook to get the hat to drape properly.
