Going to use the Kauni for the body of the shawl as well as for the leaves.

Began with right half-hitch (aka “simple”) cast-on starting with a twist instead of a slip knot (in yarn this thin even the tiniest slip knot is far too visible); also using the half-hitch for casting on the lobes of the leaves. Since the leaves are primarily garter stitch I’m not bothering to pick up the wraps in the short rows.

Note: the leaf sections of the instructions aren’t difficult (if you can knit, purl, cast on, and bind off, you can do this) but it is necessary to read every word of the instructions rather than just skim or glance at them. And a row counter of some kind is essential.
