Notes

Going down a needle size this time … the first socks I knit with this yarn (Temptation Top-Down Socks 2) are good but fall down, so I think I’d like a teensy bit more substance to the fabric. And will go up a size in the pattern to compensate for circumference lost with the tighter gauge.

Have added a bit of patterning to this pair … the ladder design (begun one stitch in from each side of the front of the sock rather than perfectly opposite on each side) and the mock seam stitch down the centre back from the Gusset-Heel Gansey Sock … the latter in case I got ambitious enough to recalculate that sock’s heel to use here (I didn’t … mebbe next time)

Finis! update: Definitely my best socks so far … making a larger size with smaller needles (getting 9 stitches per inch) has given me the firm fabric with “sproing” that a sock needs. Now that I’ve got all that figured out, I can start getting adventurous with other aspects of sockmaking … ;-)

See my Temptation Top-Down Socks 1 for notes about avoiding holes in the heel of this pattern.
