Modified the pattern by doing a round of surface crochet round the second (yellow) round as I thought the gaps in that round may be a little big when I stuffed it, especially for little fingers!
Since I was making these for babies to avoid a choking hazard I did the pupils for the eyes with black 4ply cotton and a 3mm hook - sc 6 into magic ring, join with Sl st and bind off.

Was able to fit a little bird noise maker inside so they squeak when you shake them :)
