Notes

I’ve decided to make this blanket with simple soft textures:

The pink squares will be a double moss stitch
The white squares will be a small rivet-looking stitch
The green squares will have a little daisy flower on it (not intarsia, but actual touchable flowers -- I got the pattern from my Itty Bitty Nursery book)
The turquoise squares will be simple garter stitch.

I haven’t decided on the border yet, but it’ll be a nice simple kind of border. I’m thinking of making it a yarn over k2tog border so it’s a little lacey. The colour is still undecided. We’ll see. I’m thinking it’ll probably be green, but I don’t know yet.

The leftover yarn will probably be used to make booties or a hat, or something simple and cute.

To be honest, I’ve been a bit slow with making this because it’s been such a busy March and April, but I will do my best to knit at least a couple squares per night. This is proving to be a lot less frustrating than my animal blanket because there are no lions (YESSSSS!) and I’m taking precautions while knitting it to make the seaming a lot less painful. We’ll see how it turns out.

04-11-09: Finished all my pink squares. There were more pink squares than any other colour, so I am sure I will have more than enough yarn for the entire blanket. Started on the white squares.

04-12-09: finished the white squares and began to work on the little flowers for on top of the green or turquoise squares.

Finished the first flower. Man, these are some huge flowers. I think I’ll stick to the one flower and sew it in the middle of the blanket. I can figure out other textures for the other two colour squares. Just gotta do a bit of research into what I want exactly.

04-21-09: Haven’t worked on this for awhile because I couldn’t wind my yarn from the skein to the cake. My father in law helped me in that department, so I got all the green squares done. I just need to figure out what to do for the aqua squares now. I might also do an extra of each colour just to make the blanket a bit bigger. We’ll see.

04-21-09: Two more squares to go before I measure the blanket. I might have to do one more row of 5 squares to make it a more appropriate size. We’ll see.

04-22-09: Finished 25 squares and decided that the blanket needs just one more row of squares. Not a problem. That’s just 5 more squares that I can probably have done today or tomorrow, depending how much knitting I do today. Then all I need to do is sew it up and add some sort of border. Probably a simple crocheted border. We’ll see.

04-23-09: Joe’s baby is due in 27 days and the blanket size is really nice. I don’t think it even necessarily needs a border. I’ll have a better idea once I finish sewing all the squares and blocking it.

Decided to crochet on a simple border. It looks great without, but the border is going to add that extra little finished quality.

Half finished the double crochet border and my arms are killing me. Hopefully, I can complete this tomorrow and then weave in the ends.

04-05-09: Finished the edging and am now weaving in all the ends. As soon as that’s done, I’ll probably block it and send it on its merry way to Saskatchewan.
