was paranoid that i wouldn’t have enough yarn, so i did toes and heels with aurora 8, which is a little thicker than rios, but still seems to mesh with it okay. i did 5.5” before starting the heel flap -- turns out i probably would’ve been fine doing a full 6” - i have a bit of yarn left over. i also should’ve probably extended the aurora 8 down a bit further so that it covered the heel flap and the bottom of the heel - i don’t do socks enough to anticipate what will make sense, and i didn’t feel like frogging back the rios once i realized i should’ve continued in the aurora.

i knitted these with magic loop. whenever it discusses needles 1, 2 and 3, i used one needle as needles 1 and 3, and the other as needle 2, placing a marker at the spot where needles 1 and 3 would have met (which is the middle of the sole of the sock).

i’m almost exactly at gauge, but i think the fabric could be a little firmer. might go down to 4s if i do this pattern again.
