I experimented with a lot of “fancy” stuff for this shawl, but ended up finding “simple” worked best. Garter st with alternating ridges of silk/wool with pure silk is perfect for texture, drape, lightness, the hand is just what I wanted.

Knitting this on the bias (started with 2 and increased to 151 sts in each row) to be a long, rectangular wrap and using various prime numbers to determine how many rows or repeats I work. Rather making this up as I go.

Slipped stitch sections: Wrapping yarn around needle 3X every 5th st and slipping them/dropping the extra wraps the next 3 rows so the working yarn is always held on the wrong side. The decreases at the beginning of the right side rows and increases at the end of the same rows mean that the wrapped stitches shift to the left as I work the next row for wrapping the yarn.

Five-Stitch icord edging worked with 2 mm needle and single strand of silk yarn. This edging may have taken as long to knit as the shawl itself. Lots of work but I’m glad I did it. The edges with carried yarn are much more secure and it seems to give the fabric a little heft for draping.
