Summer tee for me. No stripes, just plain and simple fabric. Maybe a border around the bottom hem.
Yarn from deep stash. I had actually started this in July of 2023 but barely got into the short row shaping for the back neckline when I set it aside, so I just began again by tinking back to where the short row shaping started and knitting on again from there.
Worked raglan increases until I had 72 sts per sleeve. When joining for torso after sleeve sts were placed on scrap yarn, I cast on 10 sts with cable cast on at each underarm, then k2tog at each end of the cast on sections on the following round, closing holes that tend to form for me at this point. Thus I created an overall increase of 16 sts for plenty of additional ease.
I’m enjoying the yarn. It’s light with slight heft at the same time, mostly quite soft, and very little shedding happening. It’s plenty drapey at this loose gauge.
Bottom border uses a pair of lateral braids, slightly spaced, then Estonian Button Stitches in a diagonal grid pattern, then another pair of lateral braids. Finished off with a folded hem (using a purl round for the turning edge). From the wrong side and with a smaller needle I picked up corresponding purl bumps below the bottom lateral braid and worked a K2tog bind off to close the hem. The lateral braids at this gauge don’t look much like a typical braid, but they do create an interesting horizontal textured border.
Sleeves with pairs of lateral braids and folded cuffs come to just above my elbow.
The curling of fabric along the neckline needed to be addressed. The neckline itself also needed some support lest it simply slip off my shoulders, stretching out of shape. I picked up sts around the neckline and worked the paired lateral braid motif I used on the sleeves and hem. I did decrease sts along the raglan seams in one round but that was all it needed to shape and support the neckline against the tendency to curl. I bound off loosely, purlwise.
Trying it on, was pleased things fit well and the yarn is quite comfy.
I washed the FO in a lingerie bag in the machine with warm water. The cotton fibers shed a lot! I let it go through the drier for about 5 minutes to fluff it up and let the loose fibers come off -- lots of lint in the filter. But it softened up nicely. Laid it out flat to dry completely.
