Simple 3-Color Stripey Socks.
Brown Sugar, North Sea, and Natural
Toe Up
2 short circular needles
Gusset Toe to 72 sts
Nice, tight gauge of 10 sts/in should wash and wear well.
4.5 rounds of Natural
2 rounds of either Teal or Brown
Keeps me from carrying three yarn strands up one side. Keeping the balls from tangling may tangle my mind before I’m done, but I like the clean lines of these stripes.
Before I begin either a teal or brown stripe, I tug on the teal or brown yarn that has been carried up and twisted around the other color. This draws the knitted stitches together, closes up gaps and pulls the carried yarn to the inside, nicely hiding it.
To minimize the jog in the brown and teal stripes, I knit into the stitch below the last stitch of the first round of either of these two colors. (I omit this when shifting back to the natural colored yarn.)
Continued the stripes through the gusset. When it came time to turn the heel, I was knitting a teal stripe so I just stayed with it to knit the heel and flap. Heel “pattern” is here.
2X2 plain ribbed cuff, 14 rounds
Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off
This is really a great sock yarn. A bargain, sturdy, and it gets all that much softer after washing. Love using it!
