I’m rather enjoying this knit, although l’ve not got very far (part way through chart B) The pattern requires intarsia and cable techniques. I’ve done cable before, but intarsia in new to me.
You work with 2 main colours and 1 contrast colour throughout the vast majority of the work. This I found rather tricky. I was way too lazy to wind small amounts of yarn onto cards or bobbins so am using whole skeins. It proved very tricky because the yarn cakes kept falling to the floor and unravelling. To get over this, I have put each ball in a sock! This is working well. It looks very odd and sometimes you’ve to fiddle a bit to release more yarn, but they definitely get less tangled. It’s easy to transport too - you can grab the top of 3 socks and the WIP with 1 hand - it wouldn’t be that easy if they weren’t contained in socks!!

I abandonned this project on 15 June to knit Netherton from the new PomPom Mag. I’d been waiting patiently for the pattern after seeing Lydia’s cardigan which was used for the magazine shoot. It is now 10 July and I have finished it. So, I’m back to this shawl. I do like it but the fear of tremendously long rows ahead is frightening me a little. I’m guessing it’ll go back on hold for the Ravellenic Games!

This poor project got abandoned again on 15 July till 24 July while I made the Birthday Shawl in an emergency! It’s now 27 July and the start of the Ravellenic Games this eve so, yet again this is on the back burner!
