I finished knitting this dress a while ago, but couldn’t get the ambition to do the flowers until now. The idea for the embroidery on the hem came from “Strikkedukker” by Arne & Carlos. The doll clothes in their book do not fit American Girl dolls, however. Instead, I used Astrid’s pattern above which I had made before and knew it would work with this. The only part of the design that I can take credit for is the pink chain stitch around the neckline. That’s because this pattern calls for a row of crochet trim at the neck, and despite three attempts, I made a mess of it. My only choice was to hide it. Hopefully, whoever the recipient is will think this is a painstaking embellishment rather than a desperate cover-up.
