The idea and colorway for this sweater & hat were copied from a free Simplicity pattern. However, the pattern was for size 6 needles and dk/sport weight yarn. I knew I wouldn’t be happy with it, so I ignored the instructions and improvised a pattern using fingering yarn and size 2 needles, casting on 100 stitches for the body of the sweater, and adding the pink button band later. The armholes are knit for 3.25 inches before casting off the shoulders to accommodate this doll’s rather large shoulders.

The booties are Judy Gibson’s American Girl socks. The only change to the pattern is instead of knitting 2 inches from the heel before starting to decrease, for Bitty it should be only 1.75 inches.
