This is my first fairisle sweater and the I have found the instructions and charts very clear and easy to follow, also because you only ever have to use one contrast colour at a time with the main colour- I like the yoke construction and the nice shape formed by the short rows at the back neck after the fairisle yoke.
Done the back and front in the round with a pretend seam of just one purl stitch each side. Half way up the first sleeve now. Can’t wait to get to the yoke pattern!
Well I started the yoke and I lost my confidence:(
My knitting didn’t look very good, I’m normally neater, perhaps I was in too much of a hurry….or perhaps it’s the cotton mix that is unforgiving……maybe a good wash will sort it out. After the first few rounds of the fairisle I figured that I was wrapping my loops in too often and I continued only winding them in when there were more than five stitches to skip. I wasn’t even convinced of the colours anymore……..oh dear!
Ok , back on track;) I’ve changed its’ name, the yoke is taking shape and I am now much happier….in fact very happy.
I would certainly make another one…..but using wool yarn as suggested, which would be more elastic, whereas I have used a wool and cotton blend which I think is a little too static for fairisle. Fotos done but still needs to be blocked to even out the knitting.
