Notes

Dan loved giraffe #1 so much that I gave it to him. There’s still a month till Hazel’s birthday, and I have just under half as much yarn leftover as it took to make giraffe #1, so with smaller needles and maybe a stripe less on the arms and legs I should be just fine making a second one.

Gauge about 8 st = 1 inch

Ok, I used up almost every inch of yarn, but it worked out! I made the body slightly shorter by skipping rounds 67-69 and 72-74, and then I made the last two stripes of the arms only 2 rounds each.

I used the disappearing loop cast-on for arms, legs, and head (just don’t pull the head loop tight until after you’ve stuffed it).

I rearranged the color scheme just a bit so she wouldn’t have a green nose. I stuffed the horns to help them keep their shape. I didn’t care for the blocky, corner-y, lumpy look of the knitted hearts so I just skipped them. The arms are sewn much further down than the pattern suggests so she looks more giraffe-like.

CUTE!!! Love this pattern!
