Notes

This wonderful pattern calls for worsted weight yarn. I used DK with a goal of knitting a hat for a child. With the brim turned back, it would fit a toddler. With the brim not turned back, it could fit a child ages 5 - 7. Pattern is currently in testing, but will be for sale soon. I highly recommend any of Katya’s patterns!

Needles used:

Size 4 US - Ribbing
Size 6 US - Everything else

Weight of finished hat: 1.5 oz.

Measurements (unstretched):

7.5” (19 cm) high
12.5” (31.8 cm) brim circumference

This is my very favorite tubular cast on (in the round) demonstrated by Suzanne Bryan. It’s super stretchy and very easy:

kimmyz's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Beautiful, sophisticated colors suitable for any sex
  2. Tweedy look, chain construction, great stitch definition
  3. Machine wash and dry. However, if throwing this into a warm dryer, expect the sweater to shrink 2 - 3 inches in length, but only 1 inch in width.
