This is a great free pattern. Shannon Dunbabin is a very prolific knit and crochet designer. Her designs are in some books as well, and all of her patterns are free!

I held two strands of yarn together to knit this slouchy hat.

Cast on 112 sts (must be multiple of 8) to make up for my lighter weight yarn. This results in 14 horizonal repeats of the fishtail stitch pattern. I did 9 vertical repeats of the 6-round stitch pattern. I followed the crown decrease section exactly, ending with 14 sts (instead of 11).

I started out with 1.5 oz of the Malabrigo lace and .9 oz (full) ball of the Andean Mist lace to start. I only had 15 yards of the Andean Mist left after finishing the hat, but enough of the Malabrigo lace (1 oz) to make a pair of fingerless mitts. I still have 2 full balls of the Andean Lace to knit the mitts and other things. Sadly, the Berroco Andean Lace yarn has been discontinued. Just LOVE this pale shade of warm green!

Hat is go go with this scarf.

Needles Used:

Size 3 US - Ribbing

Size 6 US - Everything above ribbing.

Measurements:

Hat height - 9” (23 cm) (laying flat)

Ribbing - 16” (40.6 cm) circumference (unstretched)

Crown - 1.25” (3 cm)

Weight of finished hat: 1.4 oz

The beautiful cardigan in the first picture was designed by Jennifer Wood and is called “Kerenza.” I knit that back in 2017 and have worn it a lot.
