Every July 4th, Denny and I hike to the Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View, CA with our Sierra Club friends to view the fireworks. It’s 3 miles to and 3 miles back – mostly on a flat bike path. Thousands of bicyclists and vehicles make their way out there as well. It looks quite stressful for the folks in their cars, and parking is expensive. But we on foot and bikes have the most splendid time, gathering on the lawn, sharing food and chatting while waiting for the magnificent display overhead. The weather was cool and breezy last night. Denny was thankful for the new hat I knitted for him. I also bought him the shirt he wore. It seemed most fitting for him of late. Denny’s head measures about 23.5 inches (59.7 cm). Sorry I only have instructions for the size I made, but you can easily alter the size by changing yarn and/or needle size.
