Notes

Another beautiful design by Jennifer Wood. Pullover is reversible (identical on front and back). However, mine is not because I did short rows in back (instructions below).

Needles:

I cast on with size 4 US needle.
Did the neckband with size 3 US needle
Remainder of garment was done with size 4 US needle.

What I did differently:

After completing all the raglan increasing and before dividing sleeves and body, I did some short rows as follows:

All short row turns occur in sleeve areas. Slip mBs as you come to them. I did German short rows (DS = double st). These instructions should work for all sizes and would add about 1.25” (3 cm) in length to the back of the pullover. Do fewer repeats if you need less length in back.

  • Knit to 3 sts beyond 2nd mB, turn

  • DS, Purl to 3 sts beyond 2nd mB, turn

  • DS, Knit to DS, Knit DS, K10, turn

  • DS, Purl to DS, Purl DS, P10, turn

  • Repeat last 2 rows 4 more times.

  • DS, Knit to BOR, knitting DS when you come to it.

  • I knit one full round before putting sleeve sts on holders. (Note that there will be one unworked DS which will be worked when you resume work on that sleeve.)

Lace Border:

For the first row of the chart, I did all stockinette because I didn’t like the way the purl stitches looked in transition. This applies to the lace border on the sleeves as well.

Sleeves:

I did my sleeves differently, creating a bell shaped, 3/4 length by increasing rather than decreasing as follows:

  • Picked up the number of stitches for my size and then knit 11 rows straight. Increased 2 sts on the 12th round. (I placed 2 markers 10 sts apart to start, increasing as per the body.)

  • Did left and right lifted increases every 12th round six more times = 80 sts.

  • Knit 4 more straight rounds before starting lace border (5 chart repeats). The object is to have the sleeves be the same length as the pullover.

Garment Measurements:

Body - total length from underarm = 12.5” (31.8 cm). (Lace border measures a tad over 3” / 8 cm).

Sleeve length = Same as for body.
