Notes

Thrilled to be participating in another test for the multitalented, Irene Lin. LOVE everything she designs.

I matched gauge for this pullover, but the yarn I chose was too heavy. I recommend a yarn such as DROPS Air or even lighter weight. This is probably the heaviest sweater I’ve ever knitted.

Blocking: My yarn softened up considerably after soaking the sweater in warm water. I put it through a spin cycle in the washing machine to remove most of the water before putting it into a warm dryer with a bunch of clean, dry towels. It did not shrink at all. It came out of the dryer wrinkle free and looking beautiful. So far, no pilling which is always a concern with any yarn.

What I did differently:

Right before starting the lower ribbing, I increased a few stitches in the purl sections of front and back only (not the sides). This is because I don’t like the ribbing to pull in at the bottom. It also allows the cables to flow more contiguously into the ribbing. Other than this, I followed the pattern instructions to the letter. Irene’s patterns are fantastic - very easy to follow and completely seamless.

Needles Used:

Size 8 US - Body and sleeves, standard bindoff for lower edge

Size 7 US - All ribbing, including collar

Size 3 US - Standard bindoff for sleeve cuffs only

Weight of finished sweater: 26.3 oz (745.6 grams)

Finished Measurements:

Body circumference = 41.75” (106 cm)

Upper arm circumference = 15.75” (40 cm)

Length of sleeves from underarm = 17.5” (44.5 cm)

Length of pullover from underarm = 14.5” (36.8 cm)

Collar height = 8.25” (21 cm)
