Notes

Update Oct 3 2014: I love this dress, but I think it needs a new collar. So whenever I finish up my latest sweater, I will be adding a big, squishy turtleneck to this one. Probably some short row in the back? I don’t know what I did to the pattern, but the back collar has an annoying tenancy to hang lower than the front collar. I probably joined the front and back pieces in the round too quickly. So I plan to eventually fix that with some short row (at the back of the collar) and a ribbed turtleneck, or maybe a ribbed shawl collar. We’ll see what happens when I get there.

A couple months ago, I ordered a really cute knit dress from H&M. Normally, H&M sizes run a bit small. The dress received, in my size, was GINORMOUS! So I returned it, and became obsessed with finding one in the same color and style that would actually fit. And then it hit me. Why not just knit one?

2/11/13: Cast on for the back panel.
3/11/13: Picked up and joined for the front panel. P6 R6.
4/11/13: Be very careful to count your cable row repeats with your pattern rows, because the pattern does not tell you where you’re at in each cable. Duh.
8/11/13: Ripped out the back panel and knit it a wee bit tighter.
12/11/13: Finished main cable row 15, but accidentally missed a WS row cable. Need to drop down and fix it.
14/11/13: 11 inches knit, ~14 to go. I’ve finished waist decreases, and in a few inches I’ll start the hip increases. Haven’t even finished two balls of yarn yet, I wonder if 8 was too many, hah!
15/11/13: ~17 inches knit.
18/11/13: Ripped back to upper waist shaping to add in more ease. I was wearing it for ~10 minutes and the tight fit was a little annoying. Setting it aside for a little bit.
29/11/13 Finished third twist.
30/11/13 Working fifth twist, might be able to finish the body tonight!
1/12/13 Bound off the skirt and collar.
4/12/13 Started first sleeve like 4 times now. First off, I do not recommend using yarn over short rows, you get really big gaps. Stick to wraps. Secondly, make sure you don’t drop one of your pick ups, and also make sure you count correctly when you place your markers.
5/12/13: Finished the right sleeve cap, now it’s just stockinette, stockinette, stockinette, and one little cable. So glad I have a few miles of St st between this cap and the next one because ouch, my hands.
8/12/13: Finished the right sleeve, woohoo! One down, one to go.
12/12/13: Left sleeve is BOUND OFF!!! All that’s left are some ends to weave and to give her a bath.
