Knit two at a time on a long circ. Cuffs knit on 4mm; thumb and wrist to second knuckles knit on 5mm; fingertips knit on 4.5mm.

Thumb gusset only increased to 12 stitches for thumb, as per advice of previous knitters. Worked out really well. But somehow one of the gussets had one missing stitch (11 instead of 12), which I fixed in the next step:

I tried something new with this thumb, to bridge the gap. Instead of using backward loop to cast on one between, I put the thumb stitches on scrap yarn, then used the end of that yarn to make a chain, and used that chain to cast on one provisional stitch. When I picked that stitch up to knit the thumb, it was actually two loops, which I twisted and decreased out, so that my thumb was 12 stitches around. If you don’t twist them, they leave a pretty sizeable hole. On the mitt that was missing one stitch, I only decreased out one of those provisional loops. The decreases were really useful in getting rid of the gaps that sometimes show up in these areas. I wish I would’ve knit this a bit tighter, but otherwise it worked out really well.
