6/18/13 Update: Got picture today with Naomi wearing the skirt I made for her. Her mom said she couldn’t hardly get it off of her.
I sent off the skirt to my great niece in Maryland waiting for a picture to post. They loved it.
5/1/13 Sashay Twist color 1959. Also using
Elann Esprit emerald green. CO 114 w/sz 10 needles. Changed to 8’s after a couple of rows.
Note 1: I started with purling in the round because after you flip the skirt inside out the stockinette side shows.
Note 2: When I flipped the skirt I had to start knitting in the direction I had just finished in order to have the St St on the outside. I knitted 1 stitch past the marker before turning in the other direction.
Decreased 2 stitches every 6 rows until I had 104 stitches. I don’t think I will do the decreases next time. It seems young girls have about the same waist size and hip size. Also next time I will put more that 6 rows between the ruffle rows. The ruffles are plenty long to accommodate more rows.
5/22/13 I just have to sew the casing and add the elastic.
Knitted almost 3” before I did the purl row for the fold line. Also I did 7 rows of ruffle yarn with 6 rows in between. Came out to be 19” waist before the stretch and 9” in length
