To make a firm fabric, capable of holding warmth and keeping wind out.

size 3 needles; CO 36 sts.
Knit 5 purl bumps for the cuff.
Knit 18 rows before increases.
Gusset - add 14 sts. (knit one row plain between each increase row).
Knit till it’s nearly up to the second knuckles.
Knit 3 purl bumps and then cast off.
Thumb - m1 to join. 15 sts.
K 4 rows plain.
K 3 purl bumps and then cast off.

There will be yarn left over.
