Very, very easy hat!
With 2 by 5 knit and purl checks.
You can make it in any yarn, any size.
Just measure the circumference of the intended recipient’s head. Then do a swatch to figure out your gauge.
Knit 5 rounds of (K5,P5) all around.
Then 5 rounds of (P5,K5) all around.
Keep repeating until the hat in progress is long enough to cover the tops of the ears.
Now start decreasing.
(K3,K2Tog,P3,P2Tog) all around.
(K4,P4) all around for 3 rounds.
(P4,K4) all around for 4 rounds
(K2,K2Tog,P2,P2Tog) all around.
(K3,P3) all around for 2 rounds
(P3,K3) all around for 3 rounds.
(K1,K2Tog,P1,P2TTog) all around.
(K2,P2) all around.
(P2,K2) all around for 2 rounds.

Knit all the stitches, cut the yarn, leaving a tail long enough to weave in, thread a tapestry needle with it and run it through all the leftover stitches. Pull tightly, anchor the needle on the inside of the hat and weave on the tail.
