And they’re off! I’m really excited to start my first Ravelympics entry. I’ve had this tank top on the brain since I first saw the pattern for it and last year, I realized I had some old yarns that were languishing that would pair perfectly for it! I think it’s going to be a great, lightweight tank top and I am hugely excited about it. The idea of getting to use up two yarns that are so old that I bought them when I first moved to Cleveland is really, really exhilarating. I“m excited to do this massive stash toss where I use up so many of the old things that I keep saying I’m “meaning to get to”. After this, I would love to use up more of all the leftovers I have…but that’s for another time…
I’ve cast on for the smallest size purely because I did not make gauge even a little - I had between 1-2 inches of extra stitches. I figure if I cast on for as small as possible, it will even itself out. I’m really happy this is a top-down knit because it will become apparent very quickly whether I’m on the right track or not!
7/29 - This is going along swimmingly! Well, actually, I had to rip back and cast on all over again because I realized I had started on size 4s instead of the smallest size the pattern clearly wanted me to use. But now that I’m on track, it’s going just great. I got thru just about 3 reps of the Angle stitch yesterday and tried it on. It looks like it’s going to fit! The colours are just a tad bright, so I’m having some doubts about that, but I keep reminding myself A) that these colours look really great together and B) that I look awesome in colours like this. I think it will wind up being a great combination, so I’m just going to trust my instinct and keep plugging away.
9/8 - I’m glad I trusted myself. It really and truly looks fantastic and fits me so, so beautifully. I finished it and wore it to my first ever football game! It was a Browns game, so the orange helped me blend in and no on in the crowd suspected the truth - I am a true Steelers fan! Once I wore it, the straps proved to be wayyyyy too long, so I shortened them by a few inches to make it a more appropriate fit. I really love the fit on this top - it’s so sultry and snug and perfect. I could definitely see myself making it out of some plainer colours as well, particularly since it uses up almost no yarn at all!
