Notes

I don’t mind the sun sometimes
The images it shows
I can taste you on my lips
And smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugary
And softly spoken lies
You never know just how you look
Through other people’s eyes
~ from Pepper

Sarah is designing a pair of fingerless mitts based on the stitch motive for the Ishbel shawl. I have no desire to make the shawl, but I thought it would be cute on a pair of fingerless gloves, so I agreed to be a test knitter for her! I’ve just passed the cuff and so far only had one suggestion for her in her wording for the joining of the Provisional Cast On. Just for the sake of keeping careful records for her, I did the Provisional Cast On instead of the Lazyman Cuff.

For some reason, when I think of the word “lust” - the colourway of the yarn I’m using - I think of two things. The first is, naturally, Se7en. The second, for some strange reason, is the song Pepper. I don’t pretend to understand it, but every time I hear that word, these lyrics spring to mind…

9/12/10 - I finished these last night, before I went to bed. It’s definitely a fast and enjoyable knit. I finished the second one in less than a day. The only reason this project took so long was that I was waiting for Sarah to tinker with the charts so that it would look more like the Ishbel stitch. Then I had so much going on that I just didn’t take the time to get back to it. If I had it to do over again, I would definitely shift the Razorshell over. It’s too close to the thumb gusset for my taste - I would put about 4 more stitches between the thumb and the beginning of the lace pattern, peronally. But it’s quick, it’s easy, it’s absolutely lovely, and I’ll be leaving these in my office to help stay warm, now that the days are getting a bit colder again.
