Notes

I’m a bit in love with this afghan. I started it over the summer on a very rainy day. I had the house to myself and the afghan and I curled up in a little den of warmth and watched Season 1 of Dexter. This was the project where I discovered that I had been improperly counting the number of rows I was doing - I discovered this halfway through the second row. Half of the honeycombs were one size, the other half were another.

I’m making it wider than the pattern suggested and probably a bit longer too because if there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s an afghan that’s just a little too small.

I adore knitting this and seeing the colourways change. I honestly believe that I could knit Noro for the rest of my life and be happy. The furniture my mom & I have in our living room is plaid and, therefore, will clash hideously with the afghan when it’s completed, but I’m unphased by that. After all, one day I’ll have gorgeous furniture. At least, that’s what I like to tell myself.

12/21/08 - Update* You know, I think that one of the things that I love most about Noro is the homespun style of it. I love coming to the really big chunks that are all fuzzy and snuggly. With a lot of yarns, that sort of thing would bother me - I like uniform width and all that jazz. But really, with Noro, I love that it gets skinny, then thick and fuzzy, and then goes along at a medium pace.

7/30/09 - Finished! A year later, it’s finally finished. Although I can’t for the life of me figure out why I worked on this afghan pretty much exclusively in the summer months. Eye roll Wool blankets on your lap in the middle of summer? Not comfy. I ran out of Taiyo at the end there and had to use a few yards from one of my poor froggy skeins of Silk Garden, but it’s now the perfect size. I can’t wait for this fall and winter when I’ll really get to use it. I will admit, that Pastaza is a bit scratchy, even through my clothes, but this is a fantastic blanket!
