Notes

After the ridiculous, incomprehensible beauty of my Twisted Flower socks (which I got to wear all day today!), I have been desperate for a plain, simple sock. I knew that I wanted to use the Hawaii colourway for plain socks and I’d been dying to start using it. I cast on last night but immediately didn’t like the variegated yarn in the ribbing. I thought about it and decided to use my skein of Ink for the cuff and heel. As I went a little further, I thought that it would be nice to have little stripes of black through out the sock. I’m already in love with this - it’s my first ever real pair of striped socks. This base is AMAZING - it’s like knitting with butter it’s so smooth and slick.

I’m naming these “Mystery Island socks” because they make me think of LOST. Hawaii is, of course, where they film the show and, thus, is the island. As anyone who has ever even heard of the show knows, it’s an island that is shrouded in mystery and, of course, The Smoke Monster - thus, the Ink colourway also works perfectly! Put them together and you have, as Shannon dubbed it, “Mystery freakin’ Island!”

10/6/09 - See how long it took me to finish these socks? That’s not because they were hard - oh no. I would have been done after 5 days except that I took them with me to the West Side for Iselin’s birthday party and forgot them there. Doh! So she took them home with her and…wow, has it really been a month since we saw each other? We suck!
