Notes

I’ve been wanting to cast on for this scarf forever. I meant to do it last summer, but then I cast on about fifty billion projects and this fell by the wayside. Now that I’m working about it, I’m thrilled at how wonderful the yarn is - but man, I didn’t expect the project to be this boring! It’s just knitknitknitknitknit. I did a long-tail cast on, as lots of other people have recommended, and I’m twisting the stitches before and after the rows I’ll be dropping. We’ll see how it goes!

The colours have always always made me think of LOST and the amazing water surrounding the island. So I’ve named it my reaction to the end of Season 4, what I’ve always imagined I would say to Ben or Locke if I had the chance. “Oh, you meant MOVE The Island!”

7/31 - Aaaaand done! This was such a fantastic, fabulously quick little project. I’m so glad I paid attention to people’s notes and did the twisted stitches and the longtail because it was so smooth to drop everything down. I decided that the instructions for how to bind off were a waste of time with a dash of foolish thrown in. Instead of binding off and cutting the yarn every 5 stitches, I would bind off 5 and then pass the yarn through the final stitch. I would then drop down the 5 stitches and stretch the yarn across the appropriate length to connect it to the next 5 stitches to be bound off. (I’m hoping that makes sense, since I feel like this sort of thing is such a visual process.) Then I just sliced up the middle of the lat 20 stitches, trying to make it as even as possible but not being overly anal about it. I’m not a huge fan of braided fringe
