I’ve seen in a lot of the notes for this project that people had difficulties with the heel. I didn’t seem to have much of an issue with this, even though I’m really not that familiar with wrap and turn heels, since I’m a cuff-down sock knitter. I really just followed the directions without questioning or overthinking them. The heel was almost perfect when it was done - I made it a bit tidier by picking up a few of the looser wraps as I went around. It took me just about 2 hours to make the first duck foot, which is fine by me. The second one went even quicker, since I knew what to expect from the pattern at that point.

I’m working on the baby blanket for Kai, but I thought a pair of duck feet would be fun too. I’ll probably wind up making a pair for Baby Theresa too at some point, next time I’m on my way up to Canada for a visit. I decided to pick up this project and do it all today because I just needed a little palette cleanser. I’m working on my colourwork mittens - almost done with the first one, just about to cast on the second - still chiseling away at my Diamond Vest, and I really want to start the front of my Mary Poppins bag…but at this point, I just kind of wanted to stop with all of the colourwork and actually finish a project, you know? Plus, today I tried to pick out the colours for my Catkin, and my brain just went on overload with all that yarn…some baby goodness is always a good thing.
