2/1/11 - For the first time ever, I’ve lost a handmade object. I do not lose things, I find things when they’re lost. I don’t know where my hat went. I remember the last time I wore it, but I can’t find it. I went to 5 different stores and places to see if it had been turned in, but it’s not anywhere. This makes me blue. This was my first ever hat, my first cabled project, and the first time I used Iselin’s handspun. Boooooooo.

My sister, Iselin, made this hat from her own handspun yarn. I kept admiring it and trying it on every time I was with her and dropping reeeeeally subtle hints like, “I’d love to make that hat myself. I think it looks great with yarn like that - in fact, I’d love to make exactly that hat with exactly that yarn!” You know, real subtle. So, surprise surprise, come Christmas morning, there was a ball of Iselin’s homespun waiting for me under the tree! I cast this on and started and finished it without ever knowing that cables were supposed to be difficult or scary. I maintain that if no one tells you it’s supposed to be hard, it won’t be.
