Today, I got home from an awesome brunch with my sister’s family from Baltimore. It was a gorgeous day today and I was suddenly struck with the desire to start and finish a project in one day. 12 hours later, I have completed my Thermis! I’d had this queued in my mind for quite some time; I thought this yarn would be perfect for this project and it was.
This yarn….oh, this yarn. Taeka did such a marvelous job of spinning it. I was in love with it from the moment that I started winding up the yarn on my noste! It’s so soft, so beautiful, so marvelous. I’m glad that I have some left over. I would say that there are about 100 yards, and I think I might be able to squeak a hat out of it. This yarn was designed to go against the skin and be loved.
Oh - and if I made this again, I would move the button holes over to the left. They are way too close to the edging so the buttons stick over the top and that drives me a little cuckoo. I think moving them over one or two stitches would do it.
3/17/13 - Yet another project I decided to tinker with today in my quest to fix all the old knitting projects that have been bugging me. The bind-off for this one has been bugging me since the day I finished it. Just look at those photos - look how floppy it is. Yech! This cowl is already big enough without having such a loose bind-off. I haven’t worn it since that first month or so that I finished it for just that reason. So it just wound up in a pile, wasting away.
Tonight, I pulled out that bind-off - oh man that sewn bind-off is a pain to pull out! I then ripped back one more row and with size 5’s, knit one ribbing row and then did a simple bind-off. It’s tightened it up immeasurably, so now I think I’ll actually feel happy wearing it! It’s just the right size around my neck now, and I still love this yarn!
