Notes

Using many scraps from my 6-Day Cardigan and Jane Richmond’s video tutorial for magic knot, I made a 65g ball of yarn and hoped to have enough to knit a short version of this scarf.

I started the pattern as written/instructed (but with 8 triangles). When i was close to the end of the second tier, i decided the dbl seed st looked too busy with this yarn. I insisted on using this yarn (from my stash, and this was the only pretty, not itchy, warm—not cotton—that spoke to me). Many of my “backwards” stitches were loosey-goosey, using more yarn than I have available.

So I frogged it and started again using 5.5mm and only 7 triangles. I worked the second and fourth tiers in stockinette rather than dbl seed (i don’t mind the reverse stockinette WS, but anyway, this cowl is short and the back side won’t be seen). Finished (after a few strategic extra decreases on the last triangle tier, when I could tell I might run out!) with about 20” worth of scraps—just enough to tighten up a few little corner holes.

Steam blocked it and it looks great!
