I just love this project!

20/05/08: I proudly unraveled my swatch and CO for good. After teaching myself to relax my knitting, I had to tighten things up a bit not to end up with mittens for an ogre (or so I thought). But in retrospect, I think I did tighten up a tad too much. Drats.

Since I had to adjust my tension a bit, I resolved on doing the edging, both cuff patterns and the 3 braids in 2.5mm, and am wondering if I should upgrade to 2.75mm for the main pattern. Still pondering.

3/06/08: I will have to unravel the 10 rows of the main pattern that I have done today in 2.75mm and upgrade to 3mm. The cuff is nice but the mitten is now too tight. (I know, it’s not supposed to be a tight cuff, but, I wanted to have it this way).

I just love the challenge and can’t wait to contemplate the finished product. Very nice pattern, lovely mittens. Am proud of the professional results, thanks to Jonathan from Effiloché for his sound advice, and to Kate for such a nice pattern.

24/6/08: 1st mitten almost finished, minus the thumb. Had to change to 3.25mm and thumb is quite tight fitting. Next time I think will do the inset cuff at 2.5mm, the cuff patterning at 2.75mm and the mitten per se at 3.5mm.

14/7/08: Both mittens minus thumb tip finished. Had to unravel right thumb and restart in 3.5mm. All that needs to be done is to embroider the bird, sew the hem and weave in ends. Yeah!!!

16/9/08: I was delayed because I needed to buy some yarn to embroider the bird, but yeah: I’ve just finish one mitten. It is so pretty-pretty!!

26/9/09: I finished weaving-in ends after the botched 2nd embroidery (will stay as is) and am ready to close up left thumb. My grandma put them on with such swiftness when I showed them to her, assuring me that they where warm and not too small, so I will give them to her upon completion.

It’s nice to see your work genuinely appreciated.

27/9/08: Finished! Just need blocking.
