I casted this one in a hurry. Being enticed with all things related to writing, diaries, & poetry, I “had” the utmost urge to put this one on the needles. I romantically fell for the fountain pen motifs.

More so, I had been wondering for a long time what to do with my Merlot Misti and when I realized that 2 skeins would suffice to complete the project, the sample shawl using up only 77g out of the 113g Helen’s Lace (estimated 850yds/780m), I just dove in.

My dream would be to also knit one up for a dear friend of mine, a brilliant poetry writer, and knit it up in something more Gothic, the likes of black over-dyed with deep burgundy/crimson red. The only thing I saw that came close to that is a shade Estelle Arequipa that I was planning to split in two to make 2-ply laceweight out of it. I can be that crazy.

mods: I went one needle size down to adapt to my yarn substitution. I still should be ok in yardage. Keeping my fingers crossed.

07/10/10: Picked it up after a long hiatus. 3 out of 10 reps done. This knits up quite quickly as the pattern isn’t too complicated. I really like the silkiness of the Misti Alpaca under my fingers and can’t wait to see how it blocks up.

04/08/11: With one more done, I am now at 6 out of 10 reps.
