Notes

Yarn buying is not happening right now, and I realized I have a lot of left-overs of Silk Garden. It is a very simple knit, and I’m very happy with the results so far.

The first inch or so was an experiment to find a way to do the edges nicely. I ended up slipping the first stitch of every row knitwise, and purling the last st of every row. When I change colors, I hold the just-used color to the back left, and pick up the new color towards the front right.

I also use a spit-splice so I don’t have to deal with ends.

2/22/08 Update! Almost finished. I have a bag of “leftovers” of Silk Garden and the scarf will be finished when the bag is empty ;-)

3/23/08 Happy Easter! Almost finished now. Way too many other projects have needed to be done for classes, etc. to just work on this, but I’m trying to finish it before the weather gets too warm to wear it some.

4/23/08 FINALLY FINISHED! I took it off the needles last night, I’m going to soak it in some nice shampoo and lay it out to dry. It’s 90” long, and I love it. It weighs 8.1 oz, so is about 4 1/2 skeins total of Silk Garden. I gave it a heavy steam instead of washing it, and it’s extremely soft. My favorite scarf by far. Already have yarn for another.
