Notes

Well, it’s finally finished, took me a bit over a year, with other projects in the mean time. I lightly blocked it width wise and not length wise as I prefer a very wide, not so deep shawl. It was approximately 80” wide before blocking, and is around 115” now.

The black & white I-cord took a while, but I love it even though parts of the white are slightly yellow. I’ll wash again soon, with Synthrapol and add some vinegar to get rid of that, but it’s subtle.

The black is Shibui Staccato and the white is Mirasol Sulka Legato.

The deep pink is the Juniper Moon lace yarn, which I doubled.

I love this pattern, and after finishing a few other pieces, really want to do another.

I also want to get some better photos!

May 31, 2017 Update:
Well, I did change colors a bit, and did buy a couple of things. The Painted Desert, while absolutely gorgeous, was simply too dark for what I wanted. So…I purchased a skein of Koigu KPPM, will add that information later on. I used it in section 2 (it’s the lavender/pink stripes) along with a double strand of bright pink lace weight that was gifted to me.

Well, I caved a bit as far as buying yarn for this. I wasn’t quite happy with my colors, so… Section #3 is a skein I purchased off Etsy from SeaShoreFibers. It’s almost a dayglow orange in the sun. I absolutely love it, and it has a bit more body and size than the orange Frog Tree Alpaca that I was going to use. I’m loving the colors so much, and while some people have knit this shawl in a couple of weeks or thereabouts, I’ve been working on it for 2 months, but that is fast for me.

Big shawl, size 4 needles, NOT my normal thing. I love Stephen West’s patterns, but am more used to doing small projects, cowls, mitts, on worsted or bulky weight yarns. This is a LOT of garter stitch with fingering weight yarn, and it’s all coming from stash. No buying yarn at this point in life. That’s hard when you work in a wonderful knitting store!

Just beginning, may take me a while, but I’m loving it so far!
