My Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 project of DOOOOM. My goal: to finish the stole in time to wear it to the midnight showing.
Using three different stitch patterns: “Gothic Windows” (from “Knitting Stitches” by Mary Webb) in the middle, then “Candlelight” (from Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Vol 5: Lace), and “Lily of the Valley” (from Estonian Lace Knitting).
May 29: Yarn bought
June 1-4: Dyed using a mixture of handpaint/kettle dye techniques. Painted on the green & black sections, set the dye, then overdyed by kettle dyeing with grey. Turned out not quite as dark as I’d hoped, but can always overdye the finished stole, and I don’t want to leave the knitting any longer.
June 5: Cast on using Judy’s Magic Cast-On, as I’m working it out from the centre. Started with the “Gothic Windows” lace pattern.
June 20: Have maybe 1 or 2 more repeats of the Gothic Arches sections to go; following sections will be 1/2 and 1/4 as wide as this, so hopefully they’ll be done a lot faster than this one!
July 13: finished sewing on edging and it’s BLOCKING! Should be dry in time to wear to the Deathly Hallows midnight showing. :D
End result: I unpinned the shawl after work and wove in the ends while on the bus heading to the midnight showing of Deathly Hallows Pt.2. Donned it as we were walking into the theatre and had it wrapped around me while watching the movie. May have shed a few tears on it. ;)
SUCCESS.
