Notes

11-07-2016

As I did not use any particular pattern ( just basic body measurements ), there is no detailed description of knitting process.
However, I am trying to convert all my chaotic notes I made during the knitting process, into something understandable and readable. Hopefully, I will add some kind of description soon…

BACK AND FRONT.

Gauge -
Cast on 136 sts. Work 3 rows in reverse stockinette stitch ( purl on RS, knit on WR ). Continue in stockinette stitch for the next 31 rows before the first stripe. Each stripe is knitted in Anchor Artiste Mettalic and consists of 2 rows. The repetition is * 2 rows in Anchor Artiste metallic, 12 rows in Kidsilk Haze. Continue in that order for the next 52 rows, finishing with the last two rows on Anchor Artiste Metallic ( 53rd and 54th rows ). Next 60 rows are in a plain Kidsilk mohair stockinette st. For the each shoulder seams leave 45 stitches on the needle or as I did it - I have knitted few extra rows using a fine lace yarn, then bound them off, blocked all details, unravel those extra rows and joined shoulder seams with the invisible horizontal seam.
For the BACK bind off central 40 stitches for the neck, then 3 stitches on the each side.
For the FRONT knit 6 rows after the last shimmering stripe ( and split all stitches on two halves. Start to bind off on inner edge for the V-neck. I bound off 1 st. at every second row till the only 45 stitches left for the shoulder seam. The another half of the front V-neck was finished identical. I should say that the V-neck was huge and was puckering before the blocking and before I knitted the neck band. The band added stability to V-neck and it stopped puck off.

For the SLEEVE - cast on 45 sts. Please note, as I have a very skinny wrists, you might need to recalculate and cast on more stitches. The stripe repetition is identical to front and back. After 34 rows for shaping the sleeves I started to increase 1 stitch at every 4th raw, in kidsilk haze stripes only, not counting stripes in Anchor Artiste Mettalic. Cont.till reaches 100 stitches ( = 31 cm ). After approx. 45 cm = 96 rows from the beginning bind off all 100 stitches at ones.

For the neck band I casted on 120 stitches on circular needles. I used a crochet to pick up these number of stitches around the necklace. Knit in stockinette stitch 7 rows, then bind off loosely. Next time I would probably take smaller needle size ( 2, 75 or 2,5 mm ) and cast on slightly more stitches for the neck band.

PLEASE NOTE - all the measurement are approximate. I just tried to write down the basic notes about this project. Someone could find them helpful. I think that these notes might be useful as a reference point, but not as a reliable instructions. I also added some of my drawing. It probably illustrates much better than a lot of words ;) all numbers are in centimetres.

I also would adjust the number of stitches for the sleeves - 100 stitches seem a bit too much for the length of “armholes”. After few washes it became clear. The seam joining sleeves to the body started to look a bit odd. Another solution- Going to unravel few upper rays of sleeves and slightly easing the hem insert them again so the first sparkling raw on the sleeve would match the upper sparkling raw on the body.

If you still have a question, please do not hesitate to ask here in comments or just PM ( private message ) me.
