Notes

03.06.2010 Photos scooped up at work today on mum so she will be surprised on her birthday at the end of this month.

01.06.2010 It is being blocked and currently measures:

  • centre back neck to centre back tip = 1 metre /40 inches
  • Wing span = just under 2 metres / 78 inches.

She has really really opened up from the pre blocking photos. Daughter has already started placing her bid in for this one I can see it happening again - she will get another green shawl for her birthday.

31.05.2010 Yet again I had to do another fudge cause my gauge calculations and swatch were lying to me . I needed more yarn that what I had. I ended up only doing 1/2 of chart B and 7 rows of chart C. It makes a nice shawlette for the daughter. Photo A is pre blocked and the shawl is now being blocked.

30.05.2010 Have caught up to self and now completing transition from chart A to Chart B. Had to a little fudging on a couple of leaves but hay ho that would not be one of my lace projects if it did not have a fudge in it. Call it the God Piece and we say it that it was done on purpose. Yeap the purpose of fixing the boo boo.

29.05.2010 Well I stepped away and I stepped away for two whole weeks. I got caught up with the final undergraduate dissertation of this academic year and then I had to grow some brain cells as I could not just work it out what I was doing wrong.

In the end I tinked back to my second pair of leaves just before the transition to the third leaves. The amount of tinking was frustrating but I want to happy with this item. I swear it may be the yarn cause it has been repeatedly been tinked to frogged in other projects.

But I am not going to let this project be frogged. I am so behind in my in 10 in 2010 challenge that I can not afford to have this project end up as a frogged item yet again. Persistence will win the day.

14.05.2010 I was cruising along nicely up to my fourth central pair of leaves, just starting my fifth set. But then I discovered that I had done a boo boo. Initially it looked like I had done the mistake a couple of rows back so was small tink was undertaken. At the end of the tink back to were I thought I had gone wrong but nope it still was foo barred.

At this point to stop the dog or the husbeast having a new accessory ie a pair of needles and the knitting wrapped around their heads I thought it was time to step away..

Step away from the knitting.

3.5.2010 - Started this today with much trial and tribulation. The double YO and the orginal instructions were lost in the translation , I cast on about 8 times but no go. Ended up look at other project notes and came cross like2makethings version. Have a look in her projects and there is a link to the download.
