Notes

Very easy knit - the endless rows of stockinette could get a bit boring but I actually like the simplicity of it and how my minds wanders off while knitting - one might say that my mind wanders off into the horizon :-). I’m already in love with this pattern and almost can’t wait to see the finished shawl… and I love the yarn and the way the colours look together - it’s perfect for this shawl: The earth meets the sky in the Horizon…

The finished shawl weighs approximately 203 grams and relaxed size after blocking is: 176 cm (69.3 inches) long and 72 cm (28.3 inches) wide.

07.11.2011: Finished! Now blocking… I’m really happy with the result… It’s a lovely design! Love the yarn (purchased at http://holstgarn.dk/en/)

03.11.2011: Began knitting the i-cord edging today - it’s actually much easier than expected…

22.10.2011: The shawl is almost finished, all that’s left to do now is to add the i-cord edge. Very happy with the result so far :-) I’m surprised how little yarn was used - I’ve updated the amounts used above - just not for the darkest brown (Donkey) since I still need to do the i-cord edge.

A few errors in the pattern:
I found an error in the directions for the garter ridges - pattern says knit in the first garter row and purl in the second row - it must be knit in both rows or else there won’t be a garter ridge :-)… at least that’s what I have done and I think this looks just right.

There’s also an error in the colour sequence in the directions for “first decrease section” on page 34:
Pattern says colour sequence in this section is colour: 8S - 7S - 6S.
The right colour sequence must be: 8S - 3 - 40.

The image of the finished shawl on page 37 also caused a bit of confusion since this image appears to have a few more rows of the stitch pattern on the bottom edge than as described in the pattern. My advice is to forget all about this image on page 37 and just follow the written directions (with the above mentioned correction in the colour sequence on page 34), then you should be just fine :-)

I’ve replaced the yarn suggested in the pattern with these from Holst Garn:
6S -> Holst Garn in Nougat
7S -> Holst Garn in Pussy Willow
8S -> Holst Garn in Pebble
52S -> Holst Garn in Donkey
40 -> Holst Garn in Topaz
3 -> Holst Garn in Robins Egg
