Notes

I used some leftover sock yarn to knit these little mitts for my granddaughter. Here are my mods to the pattern to obtain what I hope will fit a toddler’s hands.

I cast 32 stitches onto 2.0mm needles. After the 5 rounds of ribbing I switched to 2.25mm needles.

I worked colourwork chart 1 for just 6 round, then placed markers for the thumb gusset as follows:

K14, K4, K14.

I worked the increase rounds until I had 8 stitches between gusset markers.

I knit 4 rounds after the row with the backward loop cast on.

For the thumb I only did the ribbing. I put the 8 stitches on the holder onto the needles, then picked up 6 more stitches for a total of 14 and simply did the 5 rows of ribbing.
