Notes

Small wet felted knit bag with needle felted Seal of Rassilon design and pewter button.

stealth geekery: doctor who freak here

I used Lambs Pride worsted in Deep Charcoal (m06) for the bag, and then sort of made home-made roving out of Lambs Pride worsted in the Periwinkle (m59) color. I basically took small lengths of the periwinkle and somewhat unplied them and then started jabbing. I used a single needle, not one of those scary multi-needle tools.

I did the Seal of Rassilon design freehand with no underlay, mostly because I couldn’t figure out how to get a guide pattern down without making a mess. Some sources I’d seen online suggested a baby powder stencil, but I decided to wing it.

I did make some errors in the needle felting and had to do the equivalent of “ripping” (literally ripping) but it worked out all right. The felted bag makes for a very forgiving work surface, and the charcoal color hides any stray or misplaced needle jabs.

Bev Galeskas’ pattern in Bags: A Knitter’s Dozen is great and easy to follow. If you’re an experienced knitter/felter, you could just make your own cute bag and then add a needle felted design, too.
