10shawls2010 #3

This is an incredibly beautiful design! It’s easy and becomes intuitive very fast, resulting in a lovely shawl.

Knit in a heavier yarn, changes made accordingly:

  • 2 garter stitch border (stitches always knit, no slipping);
  • 6 repeats of the flower chart;
  • 7 stitch nupps;

One more change was made to the bind-off. Instead of binding off on the right side with the purl stitches, I knit one more row with 2 yarn overs around each peak, then bound off on the wrong side with the knit stitches. I find it easier to do it this way and the additional yo provided more room to stretch each peak of the flowers.

Before blocking the shawl measured 15”x32”, after - 22”x46”.
Would like to make this shawl in a fingering or lace yarn in the future, and in a bigger size perhaps.
The yarn was a pleasure to work with, very soft and silky, and the color changes are gentle and pleasing to the eye. It’s a pity it’s too hot to wear this shawl now.
