Notes

Love the result, did tons of mods. Or to be precise, did not follow the pattern at all.

Changes:

  • started with 80 stitches, less incr rows;
  • kept 2 st. for raglan lines;
  • increases made with mirrored yo on the wrong side, knit tbl on the right side;
  • last 4 incr were made every 2nd row on the body only, but every 4th row on the sleeves;
  • provisionally cast on 5 st under arms, one of those st was kept in reverse st for a faux seam;
  • no waist shaping, back knit straight, and the fronts have side increases every 8th row all away to the end, which created asymmetrical lines (back is longer than the fronts);
  • sleeves knit in the round with the same faux seam as the body;
  • two sets of decreases performed on the sleeves;
  • the second skein, which was a lot darker, was used for cuffs and bottom edge;
  • Latvian braids were used for the transition, not much color change in the braids, but the textural effect is very nice;
  • the front bands knit wide enough to connect in the front, Chinese knot used for closure;
  • i-cord bind off on us 1 needles used throughout - sleeves, bottom edge, side bands;
  • made the body and the sleeves much longer.

Yarn:

  • extremely soft and cuddly, feels like cashmere, but the downside is it’s already fuzzy, and after some trying on and only one wearing shows signs of the future pilling;
  • the color is beautiful, blue turquoise in the day light, but green turquoise in the artificial light; unfortunately, the skeins vary so much in the same colorway, it’s kind of scary; don’t think will buy handpainted yarn online again;
  • the color bled profusely when washed, used vinegar to stabilize it;
  • the sleeves twisted horribly when wet, so much that my seams turned 180 degrees; put them in place as much as I could, and when dry, they returned to their original form; it was quite horrifying, though :).

Pattern:

Have exactly the same feelings about the pattern as Elspeth about a similar pattern from the same designer…

IntSweMoDo2010 #18

P.S. While taking pictures in the backyard, 3(!) hummingbirds were fighting for the sugary water.
The strongest (or the meanest?) made it to the bottle :) It was very amusing!
P.P.S. Next morning there were two hummingbirds drinking from the same feeder at the same time! Have never seen it before. They either got really hungry or really smart :)
